Beyond the Pitch:  Fundraising Advice for First-Time Founders

A strong pitch deck is only one part of a successful fundraising process. LaunchBio’s Beyond the Pitch webinar series is designed to help life science founders better understand the investor perspective and prepare for productive fundraising conversations. Through candid discussions, each session explores a different aspect of investor readiness, from refining your story and anticipating due diligence questions to building relationships and navigating compensation expectations. Whether you’re preparing for LaunchBio’s Investor Connect program or meeting with investors on your own, these sessions will help you approach every conversation with greater confidence and clarity.

Fundraising Advice for First-Time Founders

Join LaunchBio for the second session in our Beyond the Pitch series, featuring Aimee Raleigh, PhD, Principal at Atlas Venture, for a candid conversation on what it actually takes to get a fundraising process off the ground.

A polished deck gets you in the room. What happens next depends on whether you understand how investors think, how they evaluate opportunities, where they get stuck, and what makes them want to keep a conversation going. Aimee will share her perspective on what first-time founders most often get wrong, and what the best early-stage pitches tend to get right: how to prepare before you start reaching out, tell a compelling story, and build momentum once you’re in the process. If you’re preparing for your first investor meetings or reworking your approach, this is the conversation to be in.
