    Abubakar Jalloh is the Site Head of BioLabs San Diego, where he oversees daily business operations and strategic initiatives. Abu brings interdisciplinary scientific training, consulting experience, and biotech startup expertise in discovery and process development. He fosters a collaborative environment for startups and facilitates partnerships within the San Diego innovation ecosystem.

     

    Before BioLabs, Abu held leadership roles in corporate development at Scripps Research, where he matched faculty to funders and launched the Scripps Research Technology Summit.

    Peter Socarras, JD, President, Life Science Angels

    Peter Socarras is the President and Board Director of Life Science Angels (“LSA”).  LSA is a 100+ angel network focused on investing in life science startups across all life science verticals.  Through his career, Peter has played various roles as an executive, attorney, and engineer.  Most recently, Peter was the General Counsel of Nevro Corp., prior to its acquisition by Globus Medical.  Peter joined Nevro while it was a Series B startup, and was a leader in the organization through multiple venture raises, IPO, and ultimate acquisition.  Peter specializes in corporate, IP, and capitalization strategy.

    Ashok Kamal, MBA, Executive Director, NuFund Venture Group

    Ashok Kamal is Executive Director of NuFund Venture Group, which is one of the largest and most active Venture Group in the country. As an angel investor, Ashok has invested in a diverse portfolio of companies, including Outsite.co, Grove Collaborative, Mercato, Winnie, Zigazoo and Fabric8 Labs. He writes about his experience in the blog, Strong Stomach for Chaos.

     

    Ashok’s career as a social entrepreneur includes co-founding companies in green business, online education and crowdfunding and he has experienced bootstrapping to profitability, raising venture capital and completing an acquisition.
